You’re Helping Families Make Big Moves

Jeanene and Jesse
Jeanene and her son, Jesse, are grateful for your support this summer.

Jeanene and John are parents who came to Montgomery County to give their children, Jesse, 7, and JD, 10, a better life. The family moved here from Florida and are really excited for their fresh start.

John works in construction and Jeanene just started a remote job in customer service for a health insurance company. The family is renting a one-bedroom apartment for now but want to move into a house soon.

Moving is expensive – especially moving halfway across the country. Luckily, Jeanene and John have had a lot of help from their church, but with the price of everything going up so quickly, more help is needed. That’s where you stepped in.

We met Jeanene and 7-year-old Jesse on a visit to Highpoint Fellowship’s mobile food distribution that serves nutritious food from Montgomery County Food Bank to families in need. There, Jeanene and Jesse received even more assistance from the community than they ever anticipated. Now, the family has access to fresh food, including Jesse and JD’s favorite snack, clementines.

Jesse, a 2nd grader, says he loves to do math. And this summer, the healthy food from the Food Bank will give him and his brother fuel to do one of their favorite things together - roller skate with Mom.

“Having the Mobile [Market] available has helped us stay on our feet,” Jeanene says gratefully. “I appreciate everybody who helps make this possible.”
