William has come a long way in the year since he first started visiting our food pantry partner, Society of Samaritans, and he’s sharing his gratitude for your partnership in making it possible.
“I’m thankful to God for people reaching out and helping folks like me,” he says.
Previously, William worked more than 15 years with his brother remodeling homes. Unfortunately, he suffered a bad fall from a ladder near the roof of a home. What followed was surgery, a cast, four months of bed rest and no work.
Now, William receives Social Security disability, but the $850 income each month is barely enough to cover rent and basic bills. That’s why he started visiting the food pantry.
“I come up here if I need to,” he says. “I only get what I need.”
He says the meat, milk and canned goods come in especially handy, and William continues to get stronger by the day with plenty of nutritious food to propel his ongoing recovery.
He’s so grateful for the help he’s received that he made special gifts for food pantry volunteers.
“They do so much to help provide for me that I wanted to get them something special as a gift,” he says. “I went to the dollar store and got what I could with what little I have and made these for them.”
