“I love the fresh veggies and fruits for the great grandchildren,” Estella says, warmly, as she fills her bag with nutritious produce. “And the canned foods make cooking easier for me.”
We met Estella at the Montgomery Country Food Bank’s Mobile Market that shares groceries in Conroe. At 73, many folks would be relaxing and enjoying their golden years. But Estella stays busy chasing around her little great grandson, Eric, 4, and his big sister, Lucy, 6.*
She opened her home with open arms to her granddaughter and the children when they needed a place to live. But adjusting to having a full house hasn’t been easy on her budget.
She loves her time with the kids and does her best to make sure they have the good nutrition they need to learn, grow and thrive. Unfortunately, with just a limited Social Security check to depend on, affording high-quality groceries can be a challenge.
Caring friends like you make a real difference in her life. Since she found out about the Mobile Food Pantry, Estella takes comfort knowing she can fix balanced meals for Lucy and Eric.
Estella was excited to have the opportunity to share her gratitude with you directly.
“Thank you for all you do to help us,” she says.
Your generosity has been a relief for Estella this spring and summer while she’s tasked with covering the meals Lucy usually eats at school. You help so much!
