You’re a Source of Hope for Seniors like Jose

Jose Alejandro Anguiano
Jose is thankful for the support he received while caring for his wife.

Jose is a residential and commercial electrician, but he put his work on hold to care for his wife, Maria, when she became ill.

Maria fought Parkinson’s for five long years with Jose at her side. “When she was diagnosed, she could not leave home,” Jose says.

Their church rallied to help the couple, and for help with food Jose began visiting the Mission Northeast food pantry, a Montgomery County Food Bank partner agency. “I love the chicken, beans, rice, coffee and treats like cookies,” he says.

Maria passed away in September 2021 and since then, Jose who is now 72, works part time as an electrician. “I was home for so long taking care of my wife that it has been hard to get back out and work full time,” he says. “I don’t let my age stop me from trying.”

When Jose needs help accessing fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meats and other staples, it’s a huge comfort to know he can count on friends like you to help Montgomery County Food Bank stock our partner pantries’ shelves. “When I receive food, I always pray for those that donate,” he says with a smile.

Thank you for sharing food and hope with children, seniors and families like Jose through your partnership with Montgomery County Food Bank!
