In the past two years, life has changed considerably for the household of four. After obtaining a work visa, Isaura brought her family from Venezuela to Montgomery County in 2021. But just as the family was settling into their new home, Isaura’s father passed away.
Her father was a pastor and a beloved community member. After his passing, the church community came together to help support Isaura’s family. The support was much appreciated, but it wasn’t enough to supplement Isaura’s income as an assistant cook.
Thankfully, the family has friends like you to rely on in times of hardship. Your generosity helps to ensure that St. Anthony’s Bread of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, a Montgomery County Food Bank partner food pantry, is stocked with many foods the family loves like eggs, milk and meat.
“It helps the family, and the kids love the food,” Isaura says.
When Isaura worries less about food, there’s more time and energy for fun activities with her children on the weekends like a special visit to the park.
