Volunteers Put Their Talents on Display

Lisa Akins Smiling
Lisa’s been with us for two incredible years doing a little bit of everything.

The best part of working with our volunteers is discovering their many talents outside of the sort rooms. Whether you're packing food boxes, counting inventory, filing paperwork, or spending a whole shift composting, you're contributing to the incredible impact of Montgomery County Food Bank.

Lisa Akins began volunteering with Montgomery County Food Bank in January 2020 and has been one of our most dedicated volunteers ever since.

When Lisa first got started with us, she spent much of her time in our food sorting room several days a week. After gaining over 50 volunteer hours, Lisa received her prestigious volunteer status and realized there was a lot more she could offer.

Since then, she’s been an incredible help to our administrative team and has devoted countless hours to data entry, weekend reception help and just about anything else as the need arises. And she always does it with a smile and a positive attitude!

Thank you to Lisa and to all of our volunteers who are so willing to contribute to the Food Bank in any capacity! We averaged 3,700+ volunteer hours each month in 2021. We love learning about your professional backgrounds and the varied life experiences that brought you to the Food Bank. We couldn’t serve the community as well as we do without the individual skillset of each and every volunteer.
