Individuals, families, churches and companies volunteer with Montgomery County Food Bank in Conroe, TX every day. It takes thousands of volunteers a year to sort, pack and deliver food to our neighbors across Montgomery County. We can’t do this without you!
Ways to Volunteer in Conroe
Onsite Opportunities
Onsite volunteer shifts take place at our Conroe warehouse, where volunteers sort and package food for distribution in three key areas:
- General Sorting: Organizing shelf-stable items. Shifts may also include packing meals for our Backpack Food Program or packaging rice and beans.
- Produce Rescue Center: Sorting refrigerated fruits and vegetables.
- Mixed Refrigerated Sorting: Sorting and organizing frozen and refrigerated goods.
Offsite Opportunities
Join us at an offsite distribution, where you will directly serve neighbors in need:
- Senior Distributions: Delivering essential groceries directly to the doorsteps of local seniors in need.
- Mobile Markets: Assisting with drive-thru food distributions by loading groceries into the vehicles of families and individuals.
Group Volunteering
Group volunteer shifts are a fantastic way to have fun, strengthen bonds and make a positive impact together. Corporate teams, schools, churches, sports teams and civic groups are all welcome. Fill out our Group Interest Form and our Volunteer Services team will follow up to plan your shift.

Each individual (including parents and children) wanting to volunteer MUST sign up online via the Volunteer Calendar.
Yes! We love hosting corporate teams, schools, churches, sports teams, scouts and civic groups. Please fill out our Group Interest Form and our Volunteer Services team will follow up to schedule your shift.
Volunteers must be at least 7 years old. Chaperones are required for ages 7-15. Produce Rescue Center shifts require volunteers to be at least 12 years of age (accompanied by an adult), and Mixed Refrigerated shifts require volunteers to be at least 16 years of age.
Upon arrival, follow the yellow marked crosswalks in the parking lot to the Main Entrance. This is required with your safety in mind. Once you enter the building, you’ll sign in at the reception desk and then go to our Volunteer Lounge where we’ll present a safety orientation.
The required proper attire includes closed-toe shoes (no Crocs or house shoes, non-slip tennis shoes or boots strongly recommended), no tank tops or loose/revealing clothing, shorts at least mid-thigh in length, and no offensive or inappropriate messaging.
Our Produce Rescue Center is a refrigerated room, kept at about 45°F. Volunteers should bring coats, gloves, and hats/warm headwear. Please take as many “warm-up” breaks as you need.
Our Mixed Refrigerated shift takes place in the freezer, kept at about 30°F. Volunteers should bring coats, gloves, and hats/warm headwear. Please take as many “warm-up” breaks as you need.
We accept volunteers assigned court-ordered community service, aged 16 and older, ONLY as referred by Montgomery County Community Supervision and Corrections Department, Montgomery County Misdemeanor M.A.P., or a Montgomery County court for a verified traffic violation/misdemeanor. No persons with felony charges will be accepted.
You can sign up for a court-ordered community service shift via the Volunteer Calendar. The shifts are labeled as such. When signing up and creating your account, be sure to check the box that says you are signing up for community service. You must bring your correct documentation with you and present it at check-in. Hours will not be counted if you are not checked in and out on time for each shift, with the correct documentation.
