After relocating from Austin to Montgomery County, Carol began looking around for a volunteer opportunity — a way to get involved in her new community and help others.
One visit to the Montgomery County Food Bank and Carol knew she had found the right place. “The food bank was so welcoming [and] well run,” she says.
Over the last four years, Carol has averaged more than 500 volunteer hours each year! She has helped in every area of outreach including school feeding programs, mobile food pantries and the distribution of food boxes to senior citizens.
Since COVID-19 came to Texas, Carol has seen the needs of many people grow and is grateful to have the chance to continue to help, “Volunteering [is] kind of a lifeline for me.”
Carol encourages everyone to support the Montgomery County Food Bank with their gifts and time. She says, “You really feel the needs of the community. The needs are growing ... not decreasing.”
We’re grateful for Carol and her commitment to help people facing hunger. Thank you for sharing hope during the holidays — and all year long!
