The Montgomery County Food Bank launches its annual “Holiday Food Drive” through Dec. 4, 2020

Holiday Food Drive 2020 Woodlands High

Montgomery County, TX, October 28, 2020 – The Montgomery County Food Bank is launching its annual Holiday Food Drive running from November – December 4, 2020. Partnering with The Woodlands United Methodist Church and the City of Conroe, they hope to collect food and monetary donations at two locations this year to meet the increased need during this unprecedented time. Montgomery County residents, businesses, civic organizations and schools are encouraged to collect much needed non-perishable food through the month of November and bring their donations to one of the two collection sites on December 4th from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

“Our mission is to unite Montgomery County in the fight against hunger.  With the events of 2020, the need has been even greater and coming together has been more challenging, while also more important than ever,” said Kelly Holmes, MCFB Board Chairman. “The holiday season is a great time to reflect on all we’ve been through and overcome as a community, and to continue providing nourishment to our neighbors in need.”

On Friday, Dec. 4 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. all collections can be dropped off at either The Woodlands United Methodist Church located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr. The Woodlands, TX 77380 or at Conroe Founder’s Plaza adjacent to Owen Theatre at 205 Metcalf St. Conroe, TX 77301.The day will be filled with music, live performances,

hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa! Sponsorships are available, and all sponsors will be represented on boxes that are distributed to collection sites. As in years past, FedEx will be delivering boxes to distribution sites to provide extra convenience for our Holiday Food Drive Partners.

Donation items needed include:

  • Canned Meat or Pouches (tuna, chicken, spam)
  • Grains (rice, pasta, macaroni & cheese)
  • 100% fruit juices
  • Canned vegetables (low sodium, no salt added)
  • Canned or Dry Beans
  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Fruits (light syrup or its own juices)
  • Hot and Cold Cereals (oatmeal, cheerios, corn flakes, raisin bran)
  • Healthy snacks (raisins, granola bars
  • Monetary donations ($1 provides five meals)

“The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected our community,“ said Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of MCFB. “As part of our disaster response, distribution to people seeking food assistance has increased 35%. We are serving families, children and seniors who may have never before asked for help. They are our neighbors, and they need our help. We are so thankful for our community! Your support of the Holiday Food Drive will help continue the fight against hunger – especially during the holidays when we are grateful to share our blessings.”

Donation boxes are available at the Montgomery County Food Bank located at 1 Food for Life Way, Conroe, TX, 77385.
