“We’re here to serve [our neighbors] and we’re happy to serve them,” Tammy shares of her volunteer work with the food pantry at New Caney Fellowship, a Montgomery County Food Bank partner agency.
The pantry, started 13 years ago by Ruby Hunt, relies on a network of volunteers like Tammy to serve 150 families each month, a number that has grown significantly over the past five years.
Ruby, Tammy, and the rest of the volunteers distribute essential food, clothing, and holiday baskets to neighbors who can use the extra help right now. Every Wednesday, the volunteer group unloads food deliveries from the Food Bank, and every Thursday they get it into the hands of local families and individuals.
Tammy even goes a step further in caring for her community by delivering food from the pantry to an elderly gentleman and a mother of five in her neighborhood.
We are deeply grateful for the dedication of volunteers like Ruby, Tammy, and each and every person who joins us in our mission of uniting the community to fight hunger.
If Tammy’s commitment to the community was an inspiration to you, please consider making an impact with a gift today.
