Marta is a proud mother of Danny, 16, Juan, 18, and Olivia, 19. Both Juan and Olivia are currently enrolled in junior college — they’ll be the first in the family to earn degrees, Marta says.
With three teenagers in the house, there’s rarely a quiet moment. When it comes to food, the family has a strict monthly grocery budget — but it’s simply not enough to keep up with the appetite of three growing young adults.
“The kids are always hungry, so we tend to go through groceries fast,” Marta explains.
Danny is enrolled in the free and reduced-price meal program at his high school. But in the summer, it’s up to the family to make up for those breakfasts and lunches.
