A mother of four, Elaine was deeply devoted to her New Orleans community and its well-being. In her career, she showed her compassion through healthcare, serving children in the hospital.
But when Hurricane Ida hit New Orleans in 2021, Elaine and her whole family had to evacuate. That meant leaving behind the family’s home and belongings — but also friends, career and the only life they knew.
The family ended up in Conroe, Texas, where a friend had offered a place to stay.
“Besides the clothes on my back, everything else was destroyed,” Elaine shares.
A local church referred the family of six to a Montgomery County Food Bank partner agency, Community Assistance Center (CAC). Along with disaster relief, CAC offers a client choice food pantry and additional basic needs.
The help was critical for Elaine and her family to begin to build a new life. With your support, she is looking forward to turning over a new leaf and starting a new career in Conroe. Elaine expresses her deep gratitude for your partnership.
“This can make a huge difference in someone’s life,” she says.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a Montgomery County united against hunger!
