Allison Can Just Be a Kid This Summer

Allison and her mom
Allison and her mom thank you for your help.

Allison is 9 and knows what she likes. Her favorite subject in school is math, she explains, but playing outside is her real passion. Of course, she’s not alone – kids all over Montgomery County can hardly wait for long summer days to run, climb, swim and grow.

The most important ingredient for all this summer fun is plenty of energy – something that comes from nutritious meals and healthy snacks like fresh fruits and veggies. Thankfully, even though her school cafeteria will be closed, Allison will have plenty of good food to fuel her play, thanks to you.

Allison’s mom, Gulliem, knows she can visit the Montgomery County Food Bank’s mobile food distribution at Conroe Crossing when her own food budget gets tight especially in light of steadily rising food costs. It’s a big relief for such a hard-working mom who’s supporting Allison and Allison’s older brother, Alex, on her own. Gulliem cleans houses for a living and works as much as she can, but lately it’s been harder than usual to make ends meet.

At the Conroe Crossing Mobile Distribution, Gulliem can pick up a week’s worth of fresh food, which is just enough to cover her budget gap and to ensure Allison and Alex can enjoy summer to its fullest. The family especially loves the fresh produce.

“Thank you for the food,” Gulliem says, sincerely. “You are a big help.”
