Montgomery County, TX, August 17, 2023 – 1,000 Montgomery County families in need received free groceries, hot meals, and school supplies at the H-E-B Summer of Sharing event held July 20, 2023 at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah, Texas. Through its Summer of Sharing initiative, H-E-B has held distribution events in several cities across Texas, and Montgomery County was fortunate to be one of the stops this summer. The mega mobile distribution was made possible by the collaborative efforts of H-E-B, Conroe Independent School District, and Montgomery County Food Bank.

H-E-B cooked up hot, delicious meals via their mobile kitchens and provided all the school supplies and food, including prepared meals and a full set of groceries, including fresh produce for each family. Conroe ISD offered for the event to take place at Woodforest Bank Stadium and helped advertise the event to its students and families. Over 100 dedicated volunteers selflessly braved the heat to serve their community.

“Giving back to the communities we serve and battling hunger throughout Texas is at the core of who H-E-B is as a company. That is why we created Summer of Sharing, to serve families and, especially kids, with good, nutritious, kid-friendly food. We also added school supplies to prepare kids for the upcoming school year.” said Andrea Monreal-Christiansen, Hunger Relief Manger at H-E-B. “We are very proud of our longstanding partnership with the Montgomery County Food Bank and look forward to continue working with them in the fight against hunger.”

“I am so grateful to H-E-B for bringing the Summer of Sharing into Montgomery County. They saw the need and answered the call by providing food for 1,000 families.  We could not have done this event without the full support and coordination by Conroe ISD. This is a shining example of how we are stronger together,” said Kristine Marlow, President and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “Together, we made a true difference in the lives of so many children and families in need.”

“We are grateful for partnerships with organizations like the Montgomery County Food Bank and H-E-B. When you are in a position to help others, you do. When you are in need of help, there are people to help you, and that’s what makes our community great,” said Dr. Curtis Null, Superintendent of Conroe ISD.
