The countdown to the new year is over and many folks are making ambitious resolutions for 2018. While everyone’s “new leaf” will be different, all new year’s resolutions have one thing in common: they provide us with an opportunity to make a fresh start.
For many in Montgomery County, however, ringing in the new year does not mean a new beginning as they face the ongoing and continuous challenge of chronic hunger. At the Montgomery County Food Bank, our resolution is to help these neighbors in need with the highest level of nutrition and program support we can provide. Meat, produce, and healthy non-perishables are our priority. As a cornerstone of our community, we assist with the basic necessities of food and household items needed to sustain more than 85,000 of our food-insecure neighbors. Once again, we resolve this year to provide needed relief to these families until they find their own new beginning.
With the support of donors like you, we are able to improve our programs and better the lives of those we serve. We ask that you join us in assisting those in need by donating to Montgomery County Food Bank, or by giving your time as a volunteer. For every $1 donated, we can provide 3.5 meals to someone in need. For every one hour a volunteer spends in our Produce Rescue Center or our sort room, a 30-pound box of nutritious food is provided to our clients.
Together, let’s resolve to make 2018 a new beginning for those in need by giving them the essential tools required to change their lives. When you donate or volunteer with the Montgomery County Food Bank, you’re following through on a new year’s resolution not just for yourself, but for the entire community.
Thank you for your consideration.
